NU wins seventh straight Arlett Cup April 8, 2006 Charles RiverNortheastern’s men’s crew won its sixth consecutive Arlett Cup, defeating Boston University by one length over the 2,000 meter course on the Charles River.
BU had a slight lead at the settle and slipped away to a one-length lead after 500 meters. At 1,000 meters BU still had a seven-seat lead, but the final 1,000 was all NU. At 1,500 the Huskies had closed the margin to two-seats. At 1,600 they caught the Terriers and then sprinted away to a 3.9 second victory. The final times were NU 6:03.4; BU 6:07.3.
The win left NU leading the Arlett Cup, 22-7, and the BU series, 37-10. NU completed the sweep of BU, with the freshman and second varsity also winning their races.
Next weekend, the Huskies will entertain Brown University on the Charles.
