Huskies win fifth straight Burk Cup May 6, 2006 Schuylkill RiverThe Northeastern men's crew team won their fifth straight Burk Cup, finishing one-and-a-half lenghts ahead of Pennsylvania on the Schuylkill River course, and are now one win shy of tying the all-time Cup series, which Penn leads 19-18.
At 500 meters, the boats were still even. By 1,000, the Huskies had taken a half-length lead. At 1,500, NU extended their lead to one-and-a half lengths. They were able to maintain that pace for the remainder of the race, crossing the finish line at 5:41.3, with Penn trailing at 5:46.4
The Huskies now stand at 3-2 and will now prepare for the Eastern Sprints, which will take place on Sunday, May 21 at Lake Quinsigimond in Worcester, MA.
