Northeastern NU places fifth at Eastern Sprints

NU places fifth at Eastern Sprints

Northeastern came in fifth overall at the Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., on Sunday.

NU finished with a time of 6:19.21, beating Columbia (6:25.94) and falling to Wisconsin (6:09.72), Brown (6:13.21), Princeton (6:13.39) and Yale (6:17.82). The No. 5 Huskies advanced to the Grand Final after finishing second in their first heat earlier in the day.

The placement was five spots ahead of where the varsity eight finished last year at the Sprints, when NU came in 10th overall.

In other Northeastern action at the Sprints, the second varsity eight came in fifth with a time of 6:25.38 in its Grand Final, while the freshman eight also finished fifth in its Grand Final with a time of 6:09.33.

The Huskies will finish their 2008 season by competing in the IRA Championship in Cherry Hill, NJ, from June 5-7.
