Huskies defeat Rutgers in Congram Cup
The Northeastern University men's crew team rowed to a six-length victory over Rutgers on the Charles River on Saturday.
The Huskies won their eighth consecutive Congram Cup covering the 2000-meter course in 5:50.8 to Rutgers' 6:11.6. The times were aided by a gusty tailwind. The NU victory extends the series record versus the Scarlet Knights to 33-5.
The Huskies took a half-length lead at the settle, had open water by 500 and simply powered away over the final 1500. The victory leaves Northeastern at 2-1 for the season, but they face Penn in the Burk Cup tomorrow on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia at 10 a.m.
