ichard Schroeder is in his 11th season as Northeastern’s boatman, and all crew savants know that makes him the most valuable man at Henderson Boathouse. He won the Boathouse Award for Contribution to NU Rowing in 2006.

Schroeder brings the perfect resume to the job. He is both a rower and a boat builder. He rowed for the Huskies for four years (1985-89), ending his career as captain of the 1989 crew.

After graduation in 1990, he continued his rowing career with the Riverside Lightweight Team but paid the bills by working as a carpenter and boat builder with Stillwater Design.

A true believer in keeping everything on the water, he is married to Susan Lindholm, the former head coach of women’s heavyweight crew at MIT. On Sept. 22, 2001, they added a future oarswoman named Lindi to the family. They reside in Andover, Mass.
