Junior goalie Keni Gibson made 28 saves for his second straight shutout, the first back-to-back shutouts for Northeastern since the 1956-57 season, as the Huskies blanked Princeton, 4-0, in non-conference action in front of 2251 fans at Matthews Arena Saturday night.

"It's a great for the team and great for me, stringing a couple wins together," said Gibson, who now has three career shutouts. "We're getting more confident. The guys are blocking a lot of shots for me and allowing me to see the puck real well."

Senior Eric Ortlip scored twice for the Huskies, who improve to 2-9-2. Juniors Tim Judy, Jon Awe and Jason Guerriero also had two points each with a pair of assists to his credit. Princeton dropped to 4-9-0.

"When you have a kid out there that's confident and has a little edge to himself, a goalie can be really tough to beat," said NU coach Bruce Crowder. "Keni's given us that the last six or seven games and the kids are playing with more confidence knowing they have someone who is going to back them up."

Ortlip scored the game winner with 6:14 remaining in the first period. Guerriero skated the puck over the Princeton blueline then passed to Jon Awe in the slot. Awe pushed the puck toward the net and Ortlip crashed the net, slipping the puck underneath Tiger goalie Eric Laroux (32 saves).

It was the third straight game Northeastern led after the first period and the seventh game in-a-row that the Huskies held their opponent scoreless in the first 20 minutes of play.

The Huskies upped their lead to 2-0 with 9:21 remaining in the second period. Guerriero sent a cross ice pass to Mike Morris in the left circle. Laroux lined up the angle for a shot from the right winger, who instead fired a crisp pass to the far post to a wide open Steve Sanders. Sanders one-timed the pass for his first career goal. It was the fourth straight game an NU player has tallied his first collegiate goal.

With 1:50 left in the second period, Judy stole a pass and sent a pass up the ice to Jared Mudryk for a breakaway. The junior saw Laroux backing up in the net and snapped a wrist shot over the Princeton goalie's left shoulder to make it a 3-0 Husky advantage.

Ortlip added a third-period insurance goal, his second score of the game, with a power-play tally at 4:32 of the final stanza. He stuffed in a rebound off an Awe shot. Judy also assisted on the play.

The Huskies take a long break, resuming action on Dec. 28 against Colgate at the RPI Tourney.
