| 2005-06 Schedule/Results Northeastern 3, New Hampshire 3 (OT)
Northeastern tied New Hampshire, 3-3, on Sunday afternoon behind a 36-save performance by goalie Adam Geragosian. It was the Huskies' first point at the Whittemore Center since Oct. 26, 2001 and just the fifth point NU has earned there since it opened. Northeastern got goals from Dennis McCauley, Bryan Esner and Ryan Ginand. "It was a wild game in the sense of the momentum changes," said Northeastern head coach Greg Cronin. "It was a great road game for us." Down 1-0 in the second, the Huskies scored twice in 12 seconds to take a 2-1 lead over New Hampshire. The Huskies got their first goal from McCauley when he took the puck down the ice and shot from behind UNH goalie Jeff Pietrasiak, off his back and into the goal. It was McCauley's second goal of the season. After the ensuing faceoff, Esner stole the puck in the UNH zone and fired it past Pietrasiak for his second goal of the season at 7:43. Geragosian stood on his head in the later stages of the second period to preserve Northeastern's lead, making several great saves and clearing multiple dangerous pucks. He made 10 saves in the period while Pietrasiak made seven. Northeastern made it 3-1 at 2:52 in the third period when Ginand shot the puck from the left corner of the crease over Pietrasiak's stick-side. Yale Lewis came out of the right corner with the puck and passed it across to Ginand, who lifted it over Pietrasiak's stick-side. It was Ginand's fourth goal of the season. He had a hat trick for the first three goals of his career against New Hampshire at Matthews Arena in a 6-4 loss on Nov. 4. Down 3-1, New Hampshire started its comeback when Brett Hemingway scored his second goal of the game on a power play at 9:07 in the third period. Jacob Micflikier passed the puck from the right circle to Hemingway, who was on the left side of the crease. With the teams playing 4-on-4, Joe Vitale appeared to score a goal midway through the third period but it was waved off for high sticking. "That clearly was a huge change in momentum," said Cronin. "I thought Geragosian played great in the end." Less than a minute later while it was still 4-on-4, New Hampshire's Daniel Winnik tied the game at 3-3 at 10:53. New Hampshire scored the first goal of the game 49 seconds into the second period when Hemingway scored a power play goal with assists from Winnik and Micflikier. NU's Steve Sanders was in the penalty box for hooking. Less than a minute later, Lewis was called for interference but NU killed off the UNH power-play opportunity. Northeastern and New Hampshire both went scoreless through the first period. Geragosian made eight saves in the frame, including a great pad-save on a Brian Yandle shot on a power play at 16:00. The Huskies got several solid shots from Vitale in the period. Northeastern had just three power plays in the game and went scoreless with the advantage, while New Hampshire went 2-for-8 on power plays. "What drains you in this building is killing penalties," said Cronin, referring to the Whittemore Center's 200-by-100 ice sheet. Northeastern plays a home-and-home series with Merrimack on Friday and Saturday. Friday's game is at Matthews Arena while Saturday's is at the Volpe Center. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN Radio Boston, 890 and 1400 AM. Hockey Game Box Score (Final)
