| 2005-06 Schedule/Results Northeastern 3, Merrimack 3 (OT)
Northeastern came back to tie Merrimack for the second night in a row on Saturday as the Huskies took a 3-3 draw at Lawler Arena in Andover, Mass. The Huskies were down, 3-0, before scoring three unanswered goals, including the game-tying goal by Joe Santilli. Ryan Ginand and Jimmy Russo also scored. Northeastern earned its sixth Hockey East point with the tie, taking a 1-8-4 overall record and a 1-5-4 Hockey East record out of the game. The Huskies are eighth in Hockey East, two points ahead of both Merrimack (4-7-2, 1-5-2) and Massachusetts (4-8-0, 2-5-0), which are tied for ninth with four points each. The Huskies came back from a 3-1 deficit to tie Merrimack, 4-4, on Friday night at Matthews Arena. Down, 3-0, late in the second period Bryan Esner got the puck in the right corner and passed it in front of the net to Ginand. Ginand shot on Merrimack goalie Jim Healey, who made the initial save, but Ginand kept slapping at it until it went in at 15:44 to make it 3-1. Northeastern continued its comeback when Merrimack's Hank Carisio was called for slashing at 15:58. With the Huskies on a power play, Steve Birnstill got the puck and passed it to Russo on the point. Russo fire a slapshot past Healey at 17:01 to get Northeastern within a goal heading into the final period. Santilli capped NU's comeback with his second goal in as many games at 13:30 in the third period. With NU on a power-play, Russo passed the puck to Birnstill, who drew a Merrimack defender and passed it to Santilli. Santilli shot the puck over Healey's shoulder to make it 3-3. Northeastern got three shots on goal in overtime, including a breakaway by Esner, but Healey stopped all three. Merrimack didn't get a shot off in the OT period. Merrimack got out to a 2-0 lead after the first period. The Warriors got their first goal when Brent Gough took a cross-ice pass from Jordan Black and beat Northeastern goalie Adam Geragosian at 9:03. Merrimack got its second goal from freshman Rob Ricci at 11:10. With the Warriors on a power play, Ricci got the puck at the redline, skated in on the left side and crashed the net for a score. Merrimack added to its lead 2:29 into the second period when Jeff Royston scored a power-play goal on a cross-ice pass from Mike Alexiou. Northeastern had three goals called back in the later stages of the game. At the 10-minute mark in the second period, Birnstill fired a power-play shot from the point into the goal, but the referees ruled a player was in the crease. The same exact scenario happened at 16:06 in the third period as another Birnstill score was called back. At 19:48 in the third period, Santilli appeared to score his second goal of the game, but the referees ruled the net was dislodged. Geragosian made 26 saves in the game while Healey made 25. Merrimack was called for 13 penalties for 26 minutes while NU was whistled nine times for 18 minutes. The Huskies are in action next Saturday when they travel to Alfond Arena to take on the University of Maine in Orono, Maine. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio Boston, 890 and 1400 AM with John McCarthy and Mike Machnik. Hockey Game Box Score (Final)
