Northeastern finished off the 2006 Beanpot Tournament with a 5-0 loss to Harvard on in the consolation game on Monday at the TD Banknorth Garden. The 18th-ranked Crimson got two goals and an assist from Jon Pelle in the victory, while Justin Tobe made 24 saves for his first career shutout. Adam Geragosian made 36 saves in a losing effort for the Huskies.

The Crimson got on the board at 3:35 of the first period with Yale Lewis in the box for a holding minor. After sustaining pressure in the offensive zone, Ryan Maki attempted a crossing pass that deflected off defenseman Andrew Linard's leg and into the Husky net for Maki's sixth goal of the season. Jon Pelle and Brian McCafferty picked up assists on the power-play goal, which put Harvard up 1-0.

Harvard made the score 2-0 at 8:36 on an odd-man rush up the right side. Nick Coskren rushed up the right side and threw a pass across the ice to Steve Rolecek. Rolecek was hauled down by NU's Brian Deeth, but the puck ricocheted off his stick and trickled over the goal line for Rolecek's first collegiate goal. Jimmy Fraser also picked up an assist on the tally.

Harvard increased its lead to 3-0 at 18:28 of the second, when Coskren roofed a rebound above a sprawling Geragosian for his fourth goal of the season. Rolecek fed the puck to Fraser on the left side, and he shot the puck into a screen in front. The rebound came right between the circles, and Coskren deposited it just under the crossbar for the goal.

The Crimson made it two goals in 41 seconds on a perfectly executed offensive zone faceoff. Paul Dufault tied up the Huskies' Rob Rassey on the draw, and Dave Watters jumped on the puck and fed it through the crease for a one-timer by Jon Pelle, who slapped it past Geragosian for his seventh goal of the season at 19:09.

Pelle netted his second of the game at 11:33 of the third while the Crimson were on the power play. After the Huskies got a shorthanded rush, Harvard countered with an odd-man rush the other way. Maki brought the puck up the left side and successfully avoided a check, feeding the puck to a driving McCafferty in the slot. The freshman's shot was knocked down in front, but Pelle jumped on the rebound and flipped it in the corner of the net to make the score 5-0.

The Crimson outshot NU 41-24 in the victory. Harvard converted on one of its five power plays, while the Huskies went 0-for-5.

The Huskies return to action with a home-and-home series this week with Providence on Thursday and Friday. NU hosts the Friars on Thursday at Matthews Arena and will travel to Schneider Arena for a contest on Friday. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN Radio Boston, 890 and 1400 AM.
