2009 schedule released

The 2009 Northeastern University men's soccer schedule has been released, the team announced on Monday. The Huskies open the season with three games on the road, starting at Albany on Sept. 1. Then they travel to Dartmouth on Sept. 6 and Providence Sept. 12.

The Huskies then open a three-game home stand against Holy Cross on Sept. 15 followed by UMass on Sept. 19 and Fairfield on Sept. 22.

Northeastern opens its league schedule on the road against James Madison on Sept. 26. The Huskies then return to host Georgia State on Oct. 3 for their first CAA home game of the season. Northeastern then alternates home and road games through the rest of the CAA schedule. NU is at Hofstra and UNC Wilmington Oct. 7 and 10, respectively, then hosts Towson on Oct. 14. The team is then back on the road at George Mason Oct. 17 before hosting Drexel on Oct. 21 and Old Dominion on Oct. 24.

The Huskies will play two final road games against Delaware and William & Mary Oct. 28 and 31, respectively, before closing the regular season at home against Virginia Commonwealth on Nov. 7.

The CAA Tournament will be played Nov. 10-15.

Northeastern finished the 2008 season 7-5-9 (5-2-4 CAA) and took second-place in the CAA Tournament. The Huskies entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed and knocked off Old Dominion and UNC Wilmington before falling to George Mason 1-0 in the title game.
