Boston, Mass.
CAA Co-Player of the Week Scott Partridge has been named Student Athlete of the Week, Northeastern announced Tuesday. Partridge, the first men's soccer athlete to win the honor, did so after back to back shutouts in last weeks games against Towson and George Mason. The matches improved Northeastern to 4-1-0 in CAA competition which sets them third in the conference standings.
Last Wednesday Partridge made two saves and blanked a team that had posted 21 goals this season. In addition to his saves, Partridge was aggressive in the net, stepping out to thwart chances from Towson forwards.
On Saturday, he stopped seven lasers from offensive powerhouse George Mason University. GMU had only been shutout once on the season.
The shutouts are Partridge's fourth and fifth of the season. All four have been against CAA opponents. After 11 games, his .62 GAA leads the CAA.
Partridge and the Huskies continue conference play as they host Drexel at Parsons Field, Wednesday at 2 p.m.
