HAMDEN, CT - Northeastern and Fairleigh Dickinson played to a 1-1 tie in the opening game of the Quinnipiac Tournament. The Huskies scored their lone goal in the first half, as senior Nate Houghton headed in a corner kick from junior Athanasios Kirkopoulos. The one goal looked like it just might be enough to hold off the No. 14 team in the country until Fairleigh Dickinson tied it up in the 65th minute as freshman midfielder Mirza Rusevic scored his first collegiate goal for the Knights. The two teams played two 10-minute overtimes, but remained tied. Freshman Sergio Saccoccio got the start in net in his first collegiate game, making seven saves in 110 minutes of action. NU played most of the overtime periods a man down (after LeRoy Watkins received a red card) and was out-shot 16-11 for the match, but still held their own according to Coach Ed Matz. "I thought we really dominated," Matz said, "even though we were man down for a good portion of the extra periods." The Huskies will next play host Quinnipiac on Sunday at 3 p.m. Scoring
