Northeastern lost its first match of the season, 1-0, to Drury at the Memphis Diadora Tournament on Friday. The Huskies outshot their opponents 13-6 in the first half, but could not capitalize on the many opportunities.

Drury scored the only goal of the game with just over 10 minutes left in regulation as senior John Pedroli collected an NU pass that was deflected and blasted it into the back of the net.

The temperature was a big factor for the Huskies the later the game progressed. "I really think that the heat down here just wore us down in the second half," Coach Ed Matz said.

Both goalies recorded one save. The loss gives NU a record of 1-1-1 on the season. The Huskies will return to action on Saturday, taking on tournament host Memphis at 7:30 p.m.
