The Men's soccer team struck first but couldn't hold on to the lead, ending up in a 1-1 tie against Delaware on Friday in Newark, Del.
Freshman forward Santiago Bedoya scored the first goal of his career 16 minutes into the first half, a strike from the top of the box from 10 yards out. Bedoya now has a goal and an assist for three points on the season.
Northeastern and Delaware played 70 minutes of scoreless soccer after Bedoya's tally, but with three minutes to go Blue Hen Ben Rodkey took a shot from the left side that found the right part of the net, putting the game into overtime
The two ensuing overtime periods proved to be scoreless ones, as Northeastern's Mahmoud Talaat and Delaware's Taylor Thames stopped all advances. The defenses on both teams proved to be the story however, as there was only a total of eight shots on goal. Talaat made two saves for the Huskies and Thames recorded four.
Northeastern returns to action on Sunday at 1 p.m. to take on Drexel as part of Homecoming weekend at Parsons Field.
