Sophomore Petur Vidarsson was named to the NSCAA All-South Atlantic region third team, the organization announced recently.

Vidarsson, a second-year defender, started 19 of 20 games for the Huskies in 2008, and tallied a goal and an assist. At the end of the season, he was named to the All-CAA first team along with teammate Lars Okland. Vidarsson was part of a defensive unit that broke team records in shutouts (10), fewest goals allowed (17) and fewest losses (5) in a season.

Northeastern finished the season 7-5-9 (5-2-4 CAA). The team made its third straight appearance in the CAA Tournament, advancing all the way to the tournament finals, before falling 1-0 to George Mason.

A total of 13 Colonial Athletic Association players earned All-South Atlantic region honors. Earning first team honors were George Mason senior forward Kwame Adjeman-Pamboe (9g, 7a) and UNC Wilmington junior forward Devan Carroll (9g, 2a). Six players were chosen to the all-region second team. Making the squad were Georgia State senior goalkeeper Filipe Carvalho (1.58 GAA, 79 saves, 4 shutouts), Hofstra junior defender Richard Martinez (1g, 1a), UNC Wilmington sophomore defender Indy Smith (1g, 2a), William & Mary sophomore midfielder Nathaniel Baako (6g, 6a), Old Dominion senior midfielder Trevor Banks (4g, 3a) and Towson freshman forward Liam Maloney (7g, 4a). Vidarsson joined five CAA standouts. On the third team. Also named to the team were VCU senior defender Dirk Dittrich (0g, 1a), Drexel senior defender Bryan Ruff (1g, 0a), James Madison senior midfielder Nick Zimmerman (6g, 5a) and William & Mary junior forward Andrew Hoxie (10g, 4a).
