Hunter named CAA Field Co-Athlete of the Week

Northeastern junior Nate Hunter of the men's track & field team, was named CAA Field Co-Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Hunter won the shot put at the prestigious Clyde Little Texas Relays last Saturday in Austin, Texas.

At the Texas Relays, Hunter threw the shot put 61'6.75 on his second attempt, which held for the victory and was his career-best. Texas State's Kemuel Morales was runner-up with a throw of 59'6.25.

Hunter was named Co-Athlete of the Week along with William & Mary's Brandon Heroux, who won the javelin at the Colonial Relays.

The Texas Relays win was the latest in a streak of success for Hunter. He closed the indoor track & field season by winning the shot put at the New England Championship and IC4A Championship, then he placed seventh to earn All-America status at the NCAA Championship at Texas A&M on March 13. At the NCAA Championship, Hunter was ranked 14th before beating seven competitors who were ranked ahead of him with a career-best throw of 61'4.75.

Hunter opened the outdoor track & field season with a career-best throw of 61'6.25 to win the shot put at the USF Quad Meet in Tampa, Fla. on March 28.
