Huskies win two at Harvard Open
Nate Hunter won the championship shot put and Alex Iannetta won the open weight throw at the Harvard Open on Saturday in Allston, Mass. Hunter threw the shot 59'9.25, which ranks him fifth on NU's all-time indoor list. Iannetta tossed the weight 53'0.5. In the championshp weight throw, Bamidele Faboyede took fourth with a throw of 54'4.25. Adrian Li cleared 6'7 to place second in the high jump.

Whetsell, Hunter get wins in season opener
Sophomore Evan Whetsell won the 800-meter (1:54.74) and junior Nate Hunter won the shot put (59'5.5) in the Husky Winter Carnival, which Northeastern hosted at the Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday. Hunter's throw ranks him seventh on Northeastern's all-time indoor list. NU got runner-up finishes from Jonathan Hall (500-meter), Teddy Vrountas (3000) and Bamidele Faboyede (weight throw).

Vrountas, Putzeys compete at regional
Two Huskies competed in the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on Saturday at Van Courtlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. Redshirt freshman Teddy Vrountas took 61st in a time of 33:31.2 and freshman Sebastian Putzeys placed 169th in 35:56.5 for the 10K course. That caps off the cross country season for Northeastern.

NU sixth in CAA Championship
Northeastern placed sixth at the CAA Championship on Saturday at Bull Run Park in Centreville, Va. The Huskies were led by Teddy Vrountas, who placed 18th in a time of 25:27. Freshman Sebastian Putzeys was the second Husky to cross the finish line, placing 39th with a time of 26:24. Joe Siravo had one of his best races wearing a Northeastern uniform, taking 47th in 27:06.

Vrountas named CAA Runner of the Week
Redshirt freshman Teddy Vrountas was named the CAA Runner of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Oct. 14. Vrountas earned the honor after placing 23rd at the New England Championship with a time of 25:16. Vrountas last received the honor on Sept. 23 after he won the UMass Dartmouth Invitational in 25:04, besting a field of 278 runners.

NU 26th at New England Championship
Redshirt freshman Teddy Vrountas led the Huskies with a 23rd-place finish in a time of 25:16 at the New England Championship on Oct. 11 at Franklin Park. The Huskies placed 26th as a team. Freshman Sebastian Putzeys took 131st in 26:34 and Bryan Brunelli took 144th in 26:43.

Huskies sixth at George Mason Invitational
Northeastern placed sixth and was the second CAA team at the George Mason Invitational on Oct. 4 at Bull Run Park in Centreville, Va. Redshirt freshman Teddy Vrountas was the Huskies' top runner in 18th with a time of 25:32. He was the top runner from any CAA school. Senior Bryan Brunelli placed 54th in 26:45 and freshman Sebastian Putzeys took 62nd in 27:00.

Vrountas gets CAA honor
Redshirt freshman Teddy Vrountas has been named CAA Runner of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. Vrountas won the UMass Dartmouth Invitational last Saturday in 25:04, besting a field of 278 runners. It was just his second collegiate cross country race. Northeastern is back in action with the George Mason Invitational on Oct. 4 in Fairfax, Va.
