Swimming and Diving 2009-10 schedule released

The Northeastern University swimming and diving team has released its 2009-10 schedule. The Huskies will open their season with three home meets at Barletta Natatorium in October, starting with the Black vs. Red Intrasquad Meet Oct. 3. The team will then play host to Central Connecticut and Maine on Parents’ day, Oct. 17, before battling cross town rival Boston College on Oct. 30.

November will begin on the road as the team faces off against Drexel, James Madison, William and Mary, and Old Dominion at ODU from Nov. 6-8. Northeastern will then make the short trip across town to Boston University for the Terrier Invitational Nov. 20-22.

The Huskies will host the lone meet in December as Massachusetts comes to Barletta Natatorium on Dec. 5.

The new year will bring a month of travel to the squad as they open with a training trip in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Jan. 2-9. The Huskies will then tour the northeast for the rest of the month, facing off against BU and New Hampshire at UNH on Jan. 18, the University of Vermont on Jan. 23, and Siena College on Jan. 30.

Dartmouth will visit Huntington Ave. on Feb. 6 for the Huskies final home meet before they end the regular season Feb. 12 at Harvard.

The CAA Championship will take place at George Mason University from Feb. 24-27, followed by the NCAA Championship at Purdue from March 18-20.

Northeastern is coming off a promising 2008-09 season which saw the Huskies break 13 records on their way to a 7-6 record and an eighth-place finish at the CAA Championship. Under Roy Coates, who is in his 17th season as head coach, the team will take aim at a fourth consecutive winning season in 2009-10.
