The swimming and diving team defeated the University of Vermont 167-128 in their final home meet of the season on Sunday, Jan. 21.

On what was Senior Appreciation Day for Samantha Hoffmann, captain Tarah Rodriguez, Katy Turner and Sara Underwood, the Huskies delivered a strong victory, winning nine of the 16 events.

The Husky divers led the way, sweeping both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Junior Brittany Gilles won both events, with junior Monica Hubbard and sophomore Courtney Flanagan finishing second and third, respectively.

Junior captain Kara Lane, sophomore Elena Alvarez and freshman Kathrine Fugge also led the Huskies to victory, each winning two events. Lane won the 100 (1:00.33) and 200 (2:08.77) butterflies, Alvarez finished on top in the 100 (1:05.93) and 200 (2:24.58) breaststrokes and Fugge took the 50 (25.00) and 100 (53.43) freestyles.

Senior captain Tarah Rodriguez also finished her career at home on a high note, as she swam on the winning 200 medley relay team and took second place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.97.

The Huskies will be back in action in a non-conference meet at Dartmouth on Friday, Jan. 26 at 6 p.m.
