Huskies fall to Dartmouth

Despite winning eight of the 16 events held Saturday afternoon, the Huskies lost to Dartmouth 165-135.
Elena Alvarez and Katherine Fugge led the way for the Huskies earning 26 and 22 points, respectively. Alvarez won the 100 (1:07.44) and 200 (2:27.97) breaststroke events and came in second in the 100 butterfly (59.36). Fugge won the 200 freestyle (1:55.47) and the 200 IM (2:11.11), came in second in the 100 freestyle (53.66), and was part of the third-place 400 medley relay team.
Jill Kearns and Erica Smotrycz also had big contributions for Northeastern, each adding 19 points. Kearns took the 200 butterfly (2:08.05) and came in third in the 500 freestyle (5:15.35) and 200 IM (2:15.65), while Smotrycz finished first in the 50-yard (24.64) and third in the 100 (54.22) freestyle events, and was part of the second-place 400 freestyle relay team. Both swimmers, along with Alvarez, were also part of the second-place 400 medley relay team.
The Huskies travel to Harvard to take on the Crimson in the last regular season meet of the year Friday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m.
