Huskies take two in season opener

Barletta Natatorium (Boston, Mass.)
The swimming and diving team started the season off right with two wins
against Central Connecticut State 175-108 and Maine 190-102 today at
Barletta Natatorium. Maine ended the day 1-1 after defeating Central Connecticut 161-132. CCSU falls to 0-2.
The Huskies were lead by senior captain Kathrine Fugge and freshman newcomer Keary McClernan, who each took two events on the day. Fugge took the 100 and 200-yard freestyle events while McClernan took the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events.
Jill Kearns who earned All-CAA accolades on the 2008-09 season led the four Huskies who took one swimming event each. She's joined by Emily Sutliff, Sarah Martin, and Annie Lindland.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Natasha Snegour, Alexis Kalevich, Annie Lindland, and Kelley Becherer also earned a victory for the Huskies.
Rachael Peterson returned from an impressive 2008-09 season to win the 1-meter dive.
The 2-0 Huskies will next see action as they host Boston College Friday Oct. 30 at 4 p.m.
