Northeastern at the Terrier Invitational
The swimming and diving team will enter Boston University's Terrier invitational this weekend. The meet will begin on Friday and end on Sunday. Last season, the Huskies took second in the meet with Elena Alvarez taking a win and earning 36 points, and Emily Sutliff taking two second-place finishes and earning 34 points. Jill Kearns will look to win an event for the fourth-straight meet this season.
Huskies drop three at Old Dominion
The swimming and diving team dropped to 3-3 after falling to Old Dominion, James Madison and William and Mary at Old Dominion over the weekend. Jill Kearns won the lone event for the Huskies, winning the 200-yard
butterfly (2:06.47). She also took third place in the 400-yard IM with
a time of 4:35.01. Freshman Keary McClernan had another impressive meet for the Huskies, earning second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.15) and third in the 100 (1:05.85). Rachael Peterson helped Northeastern with third-place finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.

Fugge named Student Athlete of the Week
Senior swimming and diving captain Kathrine Fugge has been named
Student Athlete of the Week, Northeastern announced Tuesday. Fugge
earns the honor after she took home three events and placed second as
part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team in the Huskies meet against
Boston College last Friday. It is the second consecutive week in which
Fugge has earned a victory in multiple events. She will lead the 3-0 squad into a pod meet at Old Dominion with James Madison, Drexel, and William and Mary on the weekend of Nov. 6-8.

Huskies take down the Eagles at home
Swimming and diving improved to 3-0 today as they defeated the Boston College Eagles 162.5-137.5. Senior captain Kathrine Fugge and sophomore Jill Kearns each took three events in the meet while freshman Keary McClernan took home two events for the second consecutive week. Rachael Peterson led the diving team, winning the 3-meter and finishing a close second in the 1-meter. The squad will face their next challenge on the road as they face off
with Old Dominion, James Madison, William and Mary, and Drexel in a pod
meet at Old Dominion, Nov. 6-8.

2009-10 media guide now available online
The 2009-10 swimming & diving media guide is now available online. The Huskies return 21 swimmers from last season's team including tri-captains Jaclyn Dalessandro, Kathrine Fugge and Jennyfer Roberts. Also returning is sophomore All-CAA performer Jill Kearns. The Huskies welcome eight freshmen into the fold, including paralympic gold medalist Kelly Becherer. The Huskies will face off with Boston College in a duel meet Friday at Barletta Natatorium at 4 p.m.
