Senior Kara Lane of the Northeastern swimming & diving team was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Swimmer of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

The Kentwood, Mich. native helped Northeastern to a 154-145 win over Boston University and a 175-124 win over New Hampshire on Jan. 19, placing first in both the 100 (57.68) and 200 (2:04.99) butterfly events for the second meet in a row. Her time in the 200 butterfly is the fastest in the CAA this season.

In Northeastern's 172-121 win over James Madison on Jan. 5, Lane placed first in the 100 (58.67) and 200 butterfly (2:07.42) events. In the 2007-08 season Lane has captured the 100 butterfly six times and the 200 butterfly five times, while also contributing to wins on the 200 and 400 medley relay teams.

Lane, who is serving her second year as the Huskies' co-captain, has helped the team extend its unbeaten streak to 9-0 (3-0 CAA) this season. The Huskies have not done this well since the 2001-02 season, when they went undefeated with a 9-0 record and were named America East champions.

Northeastern will return to action when it hosts Dartmouth at the Barletta Natatorium on Sat., Feb. 9 at 12 p.m.
