Diving coach Melissa Pond, a new member of head coach Roy Coates’ staff, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Huskies. She hopes to have the same success at Northeastern that she has had in recent years.
Last season Pond coached both the Framingham and Chelmsford High School woman’s diving teams, sending three swimmers to state competition where they each placed in the top ten. She also coached the Wayland High School men & women’s diving teams to victories in the state championship.
A Massachusetts native, Pond attended Wayland High School where she was a three-year varsity diver and captain of the team. She also earned MVP and DCL All-Star honors while at Wayland.
Pond earned her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from UMass Amherst, where she was a diver for three years. While at UMass, Pond was a NCAA Zone finalist and part of the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team.
