The Northeastern women's volleyball team defeated America East opponent Maine 3-0 at Cabot Gym on Wednesday night. The victory stretched the Huskies win streak to five games and improved their record to 8-10 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Black Bears fell to 7-8 on the year and 0-1 in America East action. Junior Kristin Deatherage led the way for NU as she tallied 17 kills and 11 digs. Freshman Kristin Ursillo chipped in with 8 kills and 9 digs. In the first game, the Huskies jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, but the Black Bears battled back to tie the game at 5-5. Both teams exchanged several points before Maine took a 14-12 lead. NU then went on a 4-0 run to win the game 16-14. The beginning of the second game saw more back and forth play, as the two America East schools were tied 6-6. Maine came within three points of the Huskies, 11-8, before NU ended the game with another 4-0 run. The third and final game of the evening saw NU get out to an early 7-1 lead and never look back. NU's Suzana Stojakovic had three-straight aces to seal the victory for the Huskies, 15-2.
