The Northeastern volleyball team kept their winning streak alive as they swept America East foe Hartford, 3-0, at Cabot Gym on Saturday afternoon. NU has now won eight straight matches and 14-straight games. In the first game of the day, NU jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and never looked back as they won 15-3. The second game was a little closer as NU won 15-8. Once again however, Northeastern jumped out to an early 5-0 advantage, where they would remain. In the third and final game, the Huskies skunked the Hawks 15-0. NU was nearly nearly flawless as they had 10 kills and only one error on 17 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .529. Leading the Huskies was junior Kristin Deatherage and sophomore Lindsay Wagner. Deatherage had 7 kills and 11 digs, as Wagner had an NU high 12 digs and 9 kills. Sophomore Erin Spangler also chipped in with a team high 10 kills. In the win, NU improved to 11-10 on the season and 4-0 in conference play. Hartford fell to 5-10 overall and 1-4 in America East action. Tomorrow the Huskies square off against conference opponent Hofstra in Cabot Gym at 1 p.m. The winner of that match will walk away undefeated in America East play and the sole leader atop the standings.
