The Northeastern volleyball team recorded its 13th win of the season (sixth in America East action), by defeating Towson 3-2 in a big conference match on Saturday at Cabot Gym.

Game one was dominated by the Huskies, as they shut down the Tigers 15-5. NU looked strong on both sides of the ball, as they quickly gained a nine-point edge. Carolyn Powell led the way for the Huskies with five kills.

The second game was a lot more balanced, as both teams battled back and forth, but Towson came out on top 16-14. Kristin Deatherage gave the Huskies seven kills in the loss.

Game three of the match was the exact opposite of the first game, as Towson dominated from the start. The Tigers got off to an impressive 12-1 lead and went on to win the game 15-4.

The Huskies took out some frustration in game four, after losing the previous two. They led throughout the game and came out as the winners, 15-4. Kristin Ursillo led NU with six kills.

The fifth and pivotal game featured action from both sides, but NU finished as the winners by a 15-12 margin.

The Huskies were led by Deatherage, who recorded a double-double, with 15 kills and 10 digs. The Huskies also received strong showings from Ursillo and Powell, who both had 12 kills and 15 digs. Freshman outside hitter Briana Furch served up four aces for the Huskies in the win.

Next up for the Huskies will be Delaware, another conference match that will he held at Cabot Gym on Sunday at 1 p.m.
