The Northeastern volleyball team swept America East opponent Delaware 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Cabot Gym. In the victory, NU improved to 14-11 on the year and 7-1 in conference action, as the Blue Hens fell to 11-14 overall and 4-5 in America East play. NU jumped out to an early 7-1 lead in the opening game of the match and never looked back as they beat the Blue Hens 15-6. The Huskies hit an impressive .356 on the game, compared to Delaware's .163. Junior Kristin Deatherage recorded six kills with no errors on 16 attacks for Northeastern. The second game started off on an even pace as NU and Delaware were knotted at 5-5. The Huskies went on a nine-point run to make it 14-5, but couldn't finish the game off, as Delaware came back with a 10-point run of their own. Deatherage's service ace that made the score 15-15 sparked a three-point NU spurt to win the game 17-15. The third and final game of the match was all NU as they dismantled the Blue Hens 15-3. Deatherage was nearly perfect on the day as she had 20 kills and one error on 47 attacks for a hitting percentage of .404. Senior Carrie Powell pitched in for the Huskies with a season-high 12 kills and 16 digs. NU freshman Kristin Ursillo added 11 kills and 16 digs.
