SYRACUSE, NY - Northeastern lost the final match of the Big Orange Invitational in Syracuse 3-1 to Kent State, the champions of the invitational with a 3-0 record.
After losing game one, NU picked up a win in game two, 30-24, only to lose the next two games and the match. Erin Spangler and Gianina Pellegrini each had 10 kills for the Huskies. Lindsay Wagner had a match-best 17 digs and freshman Rebecca Holland had 14. Kristin Ursillo had 35 assists. The sophomore setter had 141 assists in the three matches at the Big Orange Invitational. Kent State was led by Sarah Kutschinski's 29 kills and nine digs. Stephanie Doran had 57 assists for Kent.
The Huskies lost their first match of the Invitational 3-2 against Fairfield, only to come back with a 3-2 win over Syracuse.
Northeastern will next play on Tuesday at Massachusetts.
