BOSTON - The Northeastern University volleyball team defeated America East opponent Maine 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at Solomon Court in Boston, Mass.
NU dominated the first game 30-17 and hit an impressive .400 as a team. Gianina Pellegrini and Lindsay Wagner each had four kills on the game.
The second game was a back and forth battle with neither team managing to pull away. NU eventually won game two 30-28. Wagner once again led the Husky offense with 5 kills.
In game three, Maine battled with the Huskies to come away with the 31-29 victory. Maine's Adrienne Poplawski and Claire Poliquin both recorded six kills.
Game four was once again a close contest and the Black Bears came away with the 3-0-28 victory. In the decisive fifth game, NU won 15-11 to take the game and the match.
With the victory NU improves to 12-6 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in America East play, while Maine falls to 6-8 on the year and 1-2 in conference action.
Next up for NU is non-conference opponent Holy Cross on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Solomon Court.
