PHILADEPHIA - The Northeastern women's volleyball team was defeated 3-2 by Robert Morris in its first match of the 2001 Penn Invitational hosted by Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
After jumping out to an early one game lead (30-28), Northeastern dropped the second game 30-26. NU then won the third game, but lost a heart-breaking game four 33-30. In the fifth and final game, Robert Morris was too much for the Huskies.
Leading the way for NU was Kristin Deatherage who recorded a season high 26 kills and 18 digs. Other impressive numbers came from Lindsay Wagner who tallied 12 kills and 29 digs and Erin Spangler's 10 kills and 12 digs.
The Huskies out hit Robert Morris .138 to .130, but could not pull of their fifth straight victory. In the loss NU drops to 5-4, while Robert Morris improves to 7-3.
