The Northeastern volleyball team defeated America East foe Albany 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at Solomon Court. NU improves to 13-13 on the season and 5-1 in league action, while UA falls to 12-11 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

Northeastern was led by freshman Larissa Adomat who tallied 17 kills on 33 attacks with just three errors for a .424 hitting percentage. Sophomore Rebecca Holland (15 kills, 10 digs) and senior's Lindsay Wagner (11 kills, 15 digs) and Erin Spangler (11 kills, 15 digs) all had double-doubles for NU. Junior setter Kristin Ursillo added 46 assists, six digs and four service aces.

Albany was paced by Kristin Norton's game-high 23 kills and 10 digs, while Alissa Gibbs added 20 kills and nine digs of her own. Also contributing were setter Jill Dombrowski (51 assists, seven digs) and Eileen Nicole Rodriguez (eight digs, three service aces).

Neither team could pull away in the opening game, which Northeastern eventually took 30-24. The Huskies were led by Holland's seven kills on eight attacks with no errors for a .875 hitting percentage. Setters Ursillo and Dombrowski both tallied 16 kills in game one.

Game two was a close contest in the early going. With the game tied at 14-14, the game reached its 10th tie. Albany then reeled off a 6-0 run that Northeastern could never recover from. NU head coach Ken Nichols called two timeouts to try to get the game under control, but the Huskies lost game two 30-22.

Adomat and Wagner tallied five kills apiece in game three as NU won 30-18. NU outhit UA .256 to .023 in the third game alone.

The fourth and final game was all Northeastern again as the Huskies won 30-21.

Next the Huskies hit the road for a crucial five-match conference road trip. NU faces America East rival New Hampshire on Oct. 29 to start off the trip and concludes at Binghamton on Nov. 9. Northeastern closes out the regular season portion of its schedule on Friday, Nov. 15 versus Maine at Solomon Court (7 p.m.). NU will honor four Husky seniors, Kelly Cognac, Jennifer Endres, Erin Spangler, and Lindsay Wagner, during a special "Senior Day" ceremony.
