Six different Huskies recorded eight or more kills as the Northeastern University volleyball team cruised past Akron 3-0 in their second game of the Rhode Island Invitational. For the second straight match, senior co-captain and outside hitter, Whitney Turner led the Huskies offensive attack as she put down a match-high 13 kills with a .370 hitting percentage. Sophomore middle hitter Lauren DeTurk delivered a double-double as she came up with eleven digs to go along with her eleven kills.

Senior setter Ivana Pavlisin was NU’s assist leader for the third straight match as she added 27 to go with freshman setter Jessica Tkachuk’s 18 assists. Pavlisin now has a team-leading 84 assists in 2006 and Tkachuk has 65.

Junior libero and outside hitter Kira Batura continues to do a little of everything for the Huskies as she contributed a team-high 16 digs to go with seven kills, two aces, a solo block and two block assists.

The Huskies will try and roll through URI’s invitational undefeated when they face Pittsburgh on Sat., September 2 at Noon.
