After falling behind by two games, NU won three straight to knock off defending CAA champions and preseason favorite Virginia Commonwealth in Richmond on Friday night in a five-game comebacker. Seven Huskies produced five-plus kills led by sophomore hitter Brittany Eukovich who put up eight kills on a match-high .438 hitting and four block assists.

The Huskies got contributions from all over the court in a complete team effort including Lauren DeTurk who led NU with 12 kills. Sophomore hitters, Sarah Stein and Brianna Seitz chipped in offensively as Stein had eight kills on .389 hitting and Seitz had six kills on .227 hitting.

Junior Kira Batura and senior captain Ashley Reeves were valuable on both offense and defense. Batura came up with 19 digs to go along with nine kills and Reeves worked hard at the net for five block assists and eight kills.

Continuing their season’s trend as NU’s setting combination, senior Ivana Pavlisin tallied 24 assists and freshman Jessica Tkachuk added 22.

The Huskies will look to build momentum off of an impressive comeback as they travel to William and Mary on Sat., Sept. 16 at 3 p.m.
