After winning five of their last six matches, the Northeastern University volleyball team dropped their eighth match of the season to James Madison, 3-1. The Huskies are now 7-8 overall and 4-3 in the CAA. The Huskies looked sluggish in the first game, losing 30-18 but brought outstanding effort in game two as NU won in extra points 35-33. Both teams looked evenly matched the rest of the way but JMU edged out close wins in games three (30-26) and four (30-26) to win the match. Junior Kira Batura led NU with 17 kills on .350 hitting with 16 digs for her second consecutive double-double and her fifth of the season. Sophomore Lauren DeTurk also posted a double-double with 17 kills and 14 digs.

Sophomore Brittany Eukovich and senior co-captain posted 11 and 12 kills respectively but NU couldn’t match JMU’s offensive as the Dukes out hit NU .306 to .231.

The Dukes were led by CAA dig leader, libero Jena Pierson who put up match-highs of 27 digs and 41 receptions with only one error. Allyson Halls added a match-high 20 kills for JMU with a match-high .400 hitting percentage.

The Huskies begin a stretch of three consecutive road matches starting at UNC Wilmington on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.
