The Northeastern University volleyball team fell in four games to Hofstra who improves to 10-0 in the CAA. The Huskies are now 6-4 in the conference and 9-9 overall on the season. After dropping game-one, the Huskies battled back to take the second game but couldn’t match the Pride’s offensive attack as Hofstra won the next two.
Kira Batura recorded a double-double for the fifth straight match and now has eight this season. She led NU with 11 kills on .333 attacking and 18 digs. Senior co-captain Ashley Reeves also posted 11 kills to lead the Husky offense. Reeves also put up six block assists. The Huskies’ other co-captain Whitney Turner also played well at the net adding a match-high seven block assists and one solo block. Turner chipped in on offense with five kills and five assists.
Brianna Seitz played another solid match, missing her third straight double-double by one kill. She finished with nine kills and eleven digs. Sophomore Brittany Eukovich continued to hit at a high percentage as she led NU with a .615 attacking percentage on nine kills.
Senior setter Ivana Pavlisin led NU with 26 assists and freshman setter Jessica Tkachuk added 19 more assists to go along with her nine digs. The Huskies contributed a team effort in the back row as five different players registered at least nine digs to combine for 68 total.
Hofstra setter Shellane Ogoshi had a match-high 60 assists and Elizabeth Curley added a match-high 23 kills for the Pride.
NU will be back at Solomon Court on Fri., Oct. 20 when they host William & Mary at 7 p.m.
