The volleyball team defeated Eastern Kentucky in straight sets (25-17, 25-23, 25-11) Friday night at the USF Invitational in Tampa, Fla. Earning the first victory of the 2008 season.
In the first set the Huskies battle back and forth with the Colonels. At the score tied at six, NU went on a three point run led by the serves of junior libero, Leah Neubeck. The Huskies finished the set scoring five straight points.
In the second set was a nail bitter until the very end. But after a timeout called by head coach Ken Nichols, the Huskies broke away late and rallied their way to a late victory.
The Huskies cruised their way to victory in the third set, accumulating an attack percentage of .639 and committing only one error.
Northeastern is back in action Saturday Aug. 30 facing Grambling at 11 a.m. and South Florida at 7 p.m.
