The Huskies take down the Wildcats in straight sets Tuesday night in Durham, N.H.
In the first set New Hampshire came out ready to play. The Wildcats took an early 3-1 lead. The Huskies went on a 5-0 run and tied the set at 10 all. Northeastern, led by the great serves of Jessica Tkachuk and Britney Brown, scored seven straight points in a late spurt at the end of the set. UNH was unable to recooporate as the Huskies came from behind to steal the first set 25-15.
NU started off the second set the same way it ended the first. Brianna Seitz started a Husky run with scoring four straight points serving to start the set. UNH cut down the lead down to two, but the strong attack of Northeastern was too much for the Wildcats. NU never trailed in the set and went on to win the set by 11.
The third set was the same story. Northeastern took control of the set from the start. Caitlin Tittl started off the set serving and scored five straight points for the Huskies including two aces. UNH rallied back and tied up the set two different times. But the Huskies went on a late 5-0 run led by Brianna Seitz’s two service aces and two kills by Lauren DeTurk. The Huskies out powered the Wildcats and went on to win the set and the match.
Britney Brown recorded a double-double posing 10 kills and 14 assist in the win. Sophomore Caitlin Tittl had a hit percentage of .636, eight kills, and two blocks. The win marks the fourth straight win for the Huskies. NU starts conference play Saturday when it goes to Hofstra at 1 p.m.
