Huskies sweep Dartmouth, 3-0, win tournament

Nicole Bishop's career-high 16 kills and seven blocks led Northeastern past Dartmouth 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-18) for its third-straight victory and a Dartmouth Invitational tournament crown. Britney Brown posted 12 kills and 16 assists for her sixth double-double on the season. Bishop and Caitlin Tittl were named to the All-Tournament team.
The Huskies hit a combined .340 as a team and held the Big Green to just a .098 hitting percentage.
Northeastern never trailed in the first set, but Dartmouth would keep the score within two until two kills from Brown gave the Huskies some distance, and three straight kills from Bishop to end the set would give Northeastern the 1-0 lead.
In the second set, the Huskies jumped out to a 14-9 lead, but the Big Green battled back to cut the lead to three at 17-14. Brown, Bishop and Jessica Tkachuk would record critical kills for Northeastern, and on match point, Bishop and Tkachuk would block a Kelsey Johnson attack to win the set 25-17 and give the Huskies a 2-0 advantage.
Northeastern would trail for the first time all match in the final set at 4-3 early on. It would not last long as the Huskies strung together five kills to put Northeastern up 12-9. The two teams would battle back-and-forth, with the Huskies leading only by one at 16-15 before going on to outscore Dartmouth 9-2 to claim a 25-18 win and match victory.
Tkachuk added a game-high 23 assists to go along with six kills, nine digs and four blocks. Jessica LaScola continued her strong play from the previous game, posting a new career-high of 11 digs, besting the 10 she set earlier in the day versus Sacred Heart.
Northeastern returns to action September 22 as it takes on New Hampshire at 7 p.m. at Solomon Court.
