Huskies fall to Hofstra 3-1

The Northeastern volleyball team fell to Hofstra at Solomon Court on Saturday night, losing 3-1 (27-25, 20-25, 27-29, 25-12). Hofstra's Anissa Whitney and Monica Knight combined for 30 kills to lead the Pride to the win. Caitlin Tittl led Northeastern with 13 kills while Jessica Tkachuk posted her third triple-double of the season with 10 kills, 16 assists and 10 digs.
In the first set, the Huskies would jump out to a 13-9 lead before Hofstra would need a timeout. The Pride would then rally to go on a 9-3 run to take a 18-16 lead. The teams would knot it at 24 apiece before kills from Britney Brown and Nicole Bishop would give the Huskies the first set 27-25.
The two teams would play back-and-forth in the second set, with the largest lead of the contest being three on both sides before the score was tied 20-20. Hofstra would rattle off five straight points to win the set 25-20.
Hofstra would take a 16-12 lead in the third set before coach Ken Nichols called a timeout for the Huskies. After the timeout, Northeastern would battle back to tie the game at 18 all. The teams would then have eight ties after that point before Hofstra would claim the set 29-27.
In the final set, Hofstra came out blazing taking an early 13-9 lead before a Northeastern timeout. The Pride's Taylor Moore would serve for 11 straight Hofstra points as the Pride took a commanding 22-9 lead en route to a 25-12 win and match victory.
Jillian Robinson added 10 kills and Leah Neubeck recorded 24 digs. Jessica LaScola set a new career-high with 12 digs. Brown ended the game with nine kills, 28 assists and eight digs.
The Huskies return to action October 2 as they hit the road to take on Georgia State at 5:30 p.m.
