Britney Brown had 12 kills and 12 assists to lead Northeastern past James Madison 3-0 in volleyball action on Friday night. The Huskies combined for a .313 hitting percentage and had eight service aces while holding JMU to just .162 to improve to 11-8 on the season and 4-2 in CAA play.

The Huskies opened up the first set firing, jumping out to a 14-9 lead before the Dukes needed a timeout. Paced by Jillian Robinson's four kills in the set, Northeastern expanded the lead to 22-14 before James Madison would use another timeout, but to no avail as the Huskies cruised to a 25-15 set win.

It was more of the same in the second set as the Huskies took a commanding 20-8 lead. James Madison would only be able to pull within 10 points as Brown's six kills in the set led the Huskies attack to a 25-14 win and 2-0 advantage.

James Madison would not go down without a fight when facing elimination in the third set. James Madison took its first lead of the contest in the early goings as the teams traded points in a back-and-forth affair. With the score knotted at 19-19, Robinson stuffed back a JMU attack to give the Huskies a 20-19 lead, prompting the Dukes to call timeout. Northeastern hoped to keep momentum on its side, but James Madison pushed to score back to a deadlock at 23 apiece. Coach Ken Nichols called timeout for the Huskies and made a key substitution, putting in serve specialist Christine Kubik, who recorded a service ace to capture a 25-23 victory and sweep the Dukes.

Robinson recorded eight kills and three blocks while Jessica Tkachuk led the team with 18 assists. Jessica LaScola led Northeastern with seven digs.

Lindsay Callahan and Danielle Erb each had seven kills for James Madison.

Northeastern returns to action Sunday, October 18 as it takes on George Mason at 1 p.m. at Solomon Court.
