Matthew Soderstrom
Assistant Coach
First season at NU: 2009 Alma mater: Connecticut '07
Matthew Soderstrom joins the Huskies as an assistant coach, having gathered numerous coaching experiences at a variety of different levels.
Prior to Northeastern, Soderstrom spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Western Connecticut where he helped lead the Colonials to back-to-back 19 win seasons. In 2007, Western Connecticut had an 11-game improvement from the previous season and earned an ECAC postseason bid for the second time in school history.
In 2008, Soderstrom also served as a volunteer assistant coach at St. John’s where the Red Storm went 22-9, winning a handful of team and individual accolades. Soderstrom spent the 2007 season as an assistant at the University of New Haven, and has been active serving as a coach at the club level in his home state.
A Rocky Hill, Conn. native, Soderstrom graduated from Connecticut in 2007, where he was a member of the men’s club volleyball team and named a 2006 NECVL All New England Selection. He is currently perusing his master’s degree in sports leadership at Northeastern.
