Resa Forsythe joins the Huskies’ staff as an assistant coach after spending two highly successful seasons as an assistant coach at Alabama-Birmingham and an outstanding playing career at Georgia.

“Resa brings a tremendous amount of experience to our staff as she has several years of experience coaching two successful Division I programs. Her years at UAB, which is a similar program to ours, will certainly help her hit the ground running and to make an immediate impact at Northeastern,” said Nichols.

In 2007, Forsythe helped lead the Blazers to a 24-10 overall record and a second-place finish in the Conference USA Tournament. She also played a vital role in coaching two All-Conference USA selections and the Conference USA Newcomer of the Year.

In 2006, she helped lead UAB to a 27-10 record, and the school’s first Conference USA championship and an NCAA Tournament berth. Forsythe used her playing experience as a defensive specialist to coach UAB’s single-season record holder for digs. That same season, she coached both a first-team All-Conference USA selection and the Conference USA Newcomer of the Year.

Prior to her stint at UAB, Forsythe spent the 2005 season as an assistant coach at Georgia Southern, where she served as the recruiting coordinator. She helped lead the Eagles to a 21-11 record and coached a first-team All-Southern Conference selection.

A 2005 graduate of Georgia, Forsythe was a four-year letterwinner and two-year captain for the Bulldogs. She led Georgia in digs from 2000-02 and finished her career fifth all-time in school history in digs. In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Forsythe was given the Georgia Athletics Sportsmanship Award in 2002 and was named to the SEC Good Works team in 2003.

After finishing her athletic eligibility, Forsythe spent a year as student assistant coach at the University of Georgia, where she helped the team reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 10 years. She also spent five years coaching the Georgia Juniors volleyball club, an Under-17 club.
