| 2007 Schedule/Results Resa Forsythe named assistant volleyball coach
“Resa brings a tremendous amount of experience to our staff, as she has several years of experience coaching two successful Division I programs. Her years at UAB, which is a similar program to ours, will certainly help her hit the ground running and to make an immediate impact at Northeastern,” said Nichols.
In 2007, Forsythe helped lead the Blazers to a 24-10 overall record and a second-place finish in the Conference USA Tournament. She also played a vital role in coaching two All-Conference USA selections and the Conference USA Newcomer of the Year.
In 2006, she helped lead UAB to a 27-10 record, and the school’s first Conference USA Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth. Forsythe used her playing experience as a defensive specialist to train UAB’s single-season record holder for digs. That same season, she coached both a first-team All-Conference USA selection and the Conference USA Newcomer of the Year.
Prior to her stint at Alabama-Birmingham, Forsythe spent the 2005 season as an assistant coach at Georgia Southern University where she served as the recruiting coordinator. Forysthe helped lead the Eagles to a 21-11 record and helped train a first-team All-Southern Conference selection.
A 2005 graduate of Georgia and a four-year letterwinner with the Bulldogs, Forsythe was team captain in 2002 and 2003. She led Georgia in digs from 2000-02 and finished her career fifth on Georgia’s all-time digs list. In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Forsythe was given the University of Georgia Athletics Sportsmanship Award in 2002, and was named to the Southeastern Conference Good Works Team in 2003.
After finishing her athletic eligibility, Forsythe spent a year as student assistant coach at the University of Georgia. She also spent five years coaching the Georgia Juniors volleyball club, an Under-17 club.
The Huskies are coming off a successful 2007 where they went 19-13 overall, and finished the regular season second in the CAA with an 11-3 conference record.
