Huskies announce full 2009-10 schedule

The Northeastern women's basketball team announced its full 2009-10 schedule, with conference games included, giving the Huskies a challenging slate for the year that includes two games against defending champion Drexel and runner-up Virginia Commonwealth. The Huskies will face VCU for its first CAA game on Jan. 3 and hold the first home game on Jan. 7 against Old Dominion.
Dates and times for all games are still subject to change due to possible television commitments.
Northeastern is scheduled to play seven of the 11 conference teams twice and four once during the season. The Huskies will play home-and-home series with Virginia Commonwealth, Delaware, George Mason, UNC Wilmington, Drexel, Georgia State and Hofstra while facing Old Dominion, William & Mary, James Madison and Towson once.
The Huskies open the CAA docket on the road Jan. 3 against Virginia Commonwealth, who earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament last season. Northeastern returns home on Jan. 7 to face Old Dominion at Solomon Court. The Huskies then play host to Delaware on Jan. 10 before hitting the road to take on William & Mary (Jan. 14) and George Mason (Jan. 17).
Northeastern returns home Jan. 21 to take on James Madison, then heads to UNC Wilmington Jan. 24 before wrapping up a busy January with two home games against CAA Champions and NCAA participant Drexel (Jan. 28) and George Mason (Jan. 31).
February starts with three straight road games, kicked off by a trip to Atlanta, Ga. to open the series against Georgia State on Feb. 4. Northeastern then heads to Towson on Feb. 7 and concludes the road trip at Drexel on Feb. 11.
The Huskies then play three home games in the friendly confines of Solomon Court as it takes on Hofstra on Valentine's Day (Feb. 14), UNC Wilmington (Feb. 18) and Georgia State (Feb. 21). February concludes with two road fixtures against Delaware on Feb. 25 and and Hofstra on Feb. 28.
Northeastern plays its final home and regular season game against Virginia Commonwealth on March 3 before heading to Harrisonburg, Va. for the CAA Championship hosted by James Madison March 11-14.
The Huskies finished the 2008-09 season with a 12-19 record and sixth place finish in the CAA. Northeastern advanced to the CAA quarterfinals for the third time in the last four seasons.
The Huskies open the season on Nov. 14 against the defending NCAA Champions Connecticut.
