| 1999-2000 Schedule/Results Northeastern 61, Hofstra 47 Tesha Tinsley scored 21 points and had six assists to lead Northeastern to a 61-47 win over Hofstra in an America East women’s basketball game at Cabot Gym on Sunday. Three other Huskies scored in double figures as Lani Lawrence had 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Wanda Almengot and Garrette Glinton netted 10 apiece. Meredith Pine led Hofstra with 14 points and Kimberley Coke had 11. NU won its second straight to improve to 7-6, 2-1 in America East play. Hofstra had its five-game win streak snapped, falling to 6-4, 0-2. The Flying Dutchwomen led 41-40 with 7:44 to go but NU went on a 7-0 run to take the lead for good, surging to a 47-41 lead with 4:31 left. After Hofstra got back within five, Tinsley hit a three-pointer to make it 53-45 with 2:45 to go. The Huskies made their free throws in the final minutes and the final 14-point margin was the largest of the game. NU started off cold, missing its first 12 shots from the field. But Hofstra failed to take advantage of the drought and led just 10-6 when Tinsley made the Huskies’ first field goal with 11:09 to go in the first half. Tinsley’s basket started a string of six straight NU points that tied the game 10-10 with 9:18 left before intermission. With Hofstra up 19-14, the Huskies went on a 12-2 spurt to take a 26-21 edge. The Dutchwomen got back within three, down 28-25, at the break. The Huskies shooting woes did not continue in the second half as they hit 11 of 19 shots (57.9). In all, NU made 21 of 32 (65.7) after starting the game 0-12. It was NU’s fourth straight win over Hofstra. VISITORS: Hofstra 6-4 (0-2)
