| 2000 Schedule/Results Northeastern 56, New Hampshire 52 Tesha Tinsley and Lani Lawrence each scored 15 points to lead NU to a 56-52 win over New Hampshire at Cabot Gym on Thursday. NU played its worst game of the year at UNH on Dec. 12, losing 70-42 after shooting a season-low 30.5 percent from the field. The Huskies avoided a season sweep by the Wildcats, jumping out to a 13-point lead in the first half and holding on after UNH rallied to tie it with 6:29 to go in the game. The Huskies led 46-35 after a layup by Lawrence with 9:57 to go. UNH then went on an 11-0 run to tie the game at 46 with 6:29 left. Tinsley broke the tie and put the Huskies ahead for good with a three-pointer to make it 49-46 with 6:07 left. With NU up 52-50, Tinsley hit another big shot, a 12-foot jumper that gave the Huskies a 54-50 edge and 50 seconds showing. After Kelly Donohue made it a two-point game again on a layup with 37 seconds left, the Huskies put the game away on their next possession. Genny Caruso tipped the rebound of a Tinsley missed three-pointer to Garrette Glinton, whose layup with three seconds left provided the game’s final margin. The NU-UNH game Thursday was followed by the Husky men facing Maine. It was the first doubleheader in NU basketball history. The men lost 70-67 in OT on Andy Bedard’s three-point buzzer-beater.
