| 2000 Schedule/Results Northeastern 73, Hartford 58 BURLINGTON, VT --- The Huskies advanced to the semifinals of the America East Championship with a 73-58 win over Hartford at Vermont's Patrick Gym. NU will take on tournament host UVM on Friday at 6 p.m. The winner will take on the survivor of the Maine-Delaware semifinal in Saturday's championship at 3 p.m. Balanced scoring and a strong first-half boosted fourth-seed NU to the win over #5 Hartford in the quarterfinal nightcap of the tournament. Northeastern was red-hot from the floor and used solid defense from the start while Hartford made just two of their first 11 shots. The Huskies bolted to a 19-4 lead. America East All-Rookie forward Garrette Glinton scored 12 of her team-high 16 points as the Huskies shot 58.3% from the field en route to a 39-23 advantage at the break. Nine minutes into the second half, a 14-4 Hartford run cut the Northeastern lead to 53-41. But the Hawks could come no closer as the defending tournament champion Huskies ran off nine straight points over a two minute span and then cruised in for the victory to advance to the semifinals for the third straight season. In addition to Glinton's 16, Wanda Almengot scored 14, Beth Hanewald added a season-hgih 12 and Lani Lawrence had 10 to pace the Huskies, who improved to 17-12 with the win. First team All-America East guard Tesha Tinsley tallied just seven points but had six assists and five steals. Tinsley left the game with 2:37 left to play, helped off the court with a knee injury. It appears, according to NU athletic trainer Bridget Bokovitz, that Tinsley will be ready to play Friday against Vermont Dorcas Miller scored a game-high 17 points and Kenitra Johnson added 11 for Hartford as the much-improved Hawks, who a year ago went just 8-19, ended their season at 14-14.
