Hofstra freshman Jessica Olszewski added 16 points, all of them coming in the first half on 6-6 field goal shooting, including four three-pointers. Kimberley Coke had her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Stacey Claxton netted 12 points. Kiarsha Curtis led the Huskies with a career-high 23 points, 19 in the second half. Genny Caruso had 13 points for NU. The Flying Dutchwomen improved to 7-11 overall and 4-6 in America East play. The Huskies fell to 9-10, 5-5, with their third straight loss. Hofstra led 39-30 at intermission and scored the first 13 points of the second half for a commanding 52-30 edge with 16:29 left. The Flying Dutchwomen were 6-6 from the field during the run. After NU ended its drought on a pair of free throws by Curtis, Brickey took over and scored 17 straight points for Hofstra. She hit a three-pointer with 9:57 remaining to give Hofstra its largest lead of the afternoon, 67-39. After the sophomore guard’s barrage, the Flying Dutchwomen led 69-46 with 7:26 to go. Brickey was 7-9 with four three-pointers during the surge. NU got no closer than 14 the rest of the way. The Huskies jumped out to an early 8-2 lead highlighted by two three-pointers from Melissa Kowalski (12 points). But NU was scoreless for a span of 6:32 as Hofstra went on a 13-0 run to go ahead 15-8 with 10:28 left in the first half. The Huskies trimmed the lead to one, 17-16, on a pair of free throws by Lani Lawrence (7 points, 14 rebounds) with 7:46 to go. Olszewski then got hot for Hofstra, netting eight straight points, including two three-pointers. The second trey put the Dutchwomen ahead 25-16 with 6:21 to go. Hofstra’s lead dipped to five, but again Olszewski answered, netting a pair of threes in the final 1:27 for a 39-30 edge at the break. Hofstra, a winner against Boston University on Thursday, completed its first sweep of Boston’s America East teams since the 1996-97 season.
