Genny Caruso tries to block the shot of BU's Marisa Moseley. Caruso had a team-high 14 points for NU and Moseley led BU with 14.
Genny Caruso scored 11 of her 14 points in the second half and Laurie Harris scored all 13 of her points after intermission to lead Northeastern back from a 14-point halftime deficit and a 57-49 win over visiting Boston University at Solomon Court on Saturday.

NU improved to 10-10, 6-5 in America East play, and snapped a three-game losing streak. The Terriers, who lost all eight games in January, started the new month with their ninth straight defeat and dropped to 5-15, 2-9. Lori Newsome added 11 points, one short of her season high, for the Huskies. Marisa Moseley (Longmeadow, MA) led BU with 14 points, while Katie Terhune netted 13.

The Huskies were down 31-17 at the half after shooting just 20.8 percent (5-24) from the field and committing 16 turnovers in the first 20 minutes. But Caruso had 11 points, including three 3-pointers, during a 19-3 NU run to start the second half. A Caruso 3-pointer with 11:35 left gave the Huskies a 36-34 lead, their first advantage since the early minutes of the game.

BU reclaimed a 43-38 lead with 7:24 to go, but the Huskies answered behind Harris with a decisive 14-2 surge over the next 3:06 for a 52-45 advantage with 4:18 remaining. Harris hit a 3-pointer to start the run, making it a 43-41 BU edge. She then stole the ball, made a layup and was fouled. Harris converted the three-point play to put the Huskies ahead to stay, 44-43, with 6:25 left. In all, Harris had 10 of NU’s 14 points in the run.

The Huskies played an ugly first half. BU led 9-8 with 11:32 left and went on a 14-6 run for a 23-14 lead with 4:58 to go. NU had just one field goal the rest of the half as the Terriers built their largest lead of the afternoon, 31-17, at the break.

NU has now won six of its last seven games against the crosstown rival Terriers.
